Academic Resource Center—Tutor

Now Accepting Applications for Fall 2017!!

The Academic Resource Centers serves current WVU students by providing academic support in multiple subjects and several locations on campus including Downtown Library ARC, Evansdale Library ARC, and Bennett Tower ARC. We employ Tutors that are qualified to provide tutoring service in a variety of subjects, though we have higher demand for tutors in STEM courses. In order to be eligible, a tutor must have earned a minimum grade of ‘B’ or better in the course (‘A’ preferred) to provide tutoring service. The tutor application requires the unofficial transcript to be uploaded to confirm grades. The application also requires 2 references from professors/ instructors.

ARC Tutor Application

Academic Resource Center—Greeter

The Academic Resource Centers serves current WVU students by providing academic support in multiple subjects and several locations on campus including Downtown Library ARC, Evansdale Library ARC, and Bennett Tower ARC. We employ Greeters to serve as the first point of contact for students. Greeters will welcome students to the center, check them in/out for tutoring via our SSC software, and direct them to the appropriate tutor. Greeters must be eligible for Federal Work Study through the WVU Financial Aid Office.

Student Success—Graduate Assistant

The Office of Students Success serves current WVU students by providing academic support programs aimed at teaching the necessary skills needed for collegiate success. Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) serve in a variety of roles within this mission. GTAs teach WVUe 191 (First-Year Seminar), provide 1-on-1 success coaching, and facilitate success seminars. Student Success Graduate Assistants should be dedicated to educating undergraduate students about skills needed for success by utilizing positive and encouraging coaching strategies related to time management, study and note taking skills, test prep, etc.
