Black Love Day Celebration
Rise WVU will host its 5th Annual Black Love Day Celebration with a cocktail hour, facilitating meaningful dialog about building Black Self-Love for WVU's students and community Monday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Black Love Day was founded by Nya Akoma on Feb. 13, 1993, as an alternative to Valentine’s Day. This nationally commemorated African American holiday has the spiritual goals of encouraging black self-love instead of self-hatred, increasing peace to stop violence and facilitating racial healing.
