Academic Resource Center—Tutor

The Academic Resource Centers (ARCs) serve current WVU students by providing academic support at the Downtown Library ARC and Bennett Tower ARC in addition to virtually meeting students via Zoom.

The ARCs employ tutors for subject area content support and those who focus on academic strategies.
  • Content tutors support a variety of subjects, though we have a higher demand for tutors in STEM courses.
  • Academic Strategists can help students develop skills that are essential to success in any course such as time management, organization, note-taking, and active learning skills.
Tutors must meet the following criteria:
  • All tutors must have an overall GPA of 3.25 or better.
  • Content tutors must have earned a minimum grade of ‘B’ or better in the course (‘A’ preferred) to provide content tutoring services.
Application Requirements:
  • The tutor application requires the unofficial transcript to be uploaded to confirm grades.
  • Two professional references are required. At least one must be from an instructor/professor.

Academic Resource Center—Greeter

The Academic Resource Centers serve current WVU students by providing academic support in multiple subjects at two locations on campus: Downtown Library ARC and Bennett Tower ARC. We employ Greeters to serve as the first point of contact for students. Greeters will welcome students to the center, check them in/out for tutoring via our Navigate software, and direct them to the appropriate tutor. Greeters must be eligible for Federal Work Study through the WVU Financial Aid Office.

Student Success—Social Media and Marketing Assistant

The Office of Student Success serves current WVU student by providing academic support programs and services that help students develop the skills needed for success at the college level.  The Social Media and Marketing Assistant will serve our mission by promoting all of our programs and services on social media as well as other promotional activities and events.

Student Success - Graduate Assistant

The Office of Students Success serves current WVU students by providing academic support programs aimed at teaching the necessary skills needed for collegiate success. Graduate Assistants (GAs) serve in a variety of roles within this mission. Student Success Graduate Assistants should be dedicated to educating undergraduate students about skills needed for success by utilizing positive and encouraging coaching strategies related to time management, study and note-taking skills, test prep, etc. GA positions for the Fall semesters will be posted in the preceding Spring semesters.

Fall 2023 Positions have been filled.  Fall 2024 application will post in Spring 2024.

Student Success - Work Study

Help our team keep the office and front desk running smoothly by answering the phone, greeting students, and checking students into their appointments. The Student Success team relies on dependable work study students to cover the front desk and work one-on-one with students in the office.
