Summer Transition Program – Three Paths to Success (choose at least one)

Path 1: Adventure West Virginia*

The First-Year Pathway program is partnered with Adventure WV to provide a peer-led, adventure-based outdoor experience throughout the state of West Virginia. Each trip lasts 5-6 days. These trips offer participants diverse opportunities to meet other first-year students, learn about themselves, WVU, and West Virginia. The trips are popular and fill quickly. These programs have a proven track record of successfully preparing incoming students for college. Students can earn a college credit for the work they do over the summer. All trips are $95 or less. Students will meet with academic advisors, success coaches, and professors, as well as attend sessions on financial aid and WVU’s academic resources. Students will visit the WVU Outdoor Education Center including ropes course and aerial adventures.  The Early Move-In will also allow FYP students to navigate the campus and Morgantown for a few days before Welcome Week begins.

The Early Move-In Program will take place from August 9 to 12. First-Year Pathway students who select this option will receive an email with more details.  Please note if you have signed up for the Early Move-In option on August 9th, you will not have to sign up for a time slot during August 11 to 13th.

The cost of Early Move-In will range from $26 to $40 per night depending on the nightly residence hall rate.  Your student account will be charged for August 9th and 10th.

Path 3: Summer Bridge

First-Year Pathway students can get a jump start on the college experience by taking a Summer Bridge class. This online summer program bridges the gap between high school and college coursework by offering affordable three-week courses. Courses run from July 18 to August 5, 2022, and only cost $25 per course credit - a total of $75 to take one course. (There may be additional costs for course materials.)
